Promote your room
You host a room and you want people in it. Posting the link works, but a link only reaches the people you already reach. The front page reaches everyone who arrives.
A place on Lumi's front page for a day, a weekend, a week, or a month, from $3. Your room stays open the whole time, whether or not anyone is in it. Adults only.
What you get
- A row on the front page, under the rooms Lumi keeps open, with your room's name, its kind, how many are in it, and a way straight in. The row says Promoted. Always: a paid placement dressed up as Lumi's own recommendation is not something Lumi will do, to you or to the people reading the page.
- The room stays open. An ordinary room is forgotten two hours after the last person leaves. A promoted room is not: it sits open with nobody in it, and it comes back with the same name and code after a restart, for exactly as long as you paid for.
- First in the directory of public rooms, after Lumi's own, so somebody browsing finds it before they find a room named at random.
How long, and what it costs
- A day: $3.
- A weekend: $6. Friday 5 PM to Sunday midnight, in your own time zone. Bought on a Saturday, it is the rest of this weekend rather than the whole of next.
- A week: $15.
- A month: $45.
- Any number of days, up to 90: $3 a day.
Start now, or book a start up to 60 days ahead. There are six slots at any one time; if they are taken for the time you want, pick another time or a later start. These are launch prices and may rise as the front page gets busier; what you have already paid for never changes.
How it works
- Open your room. Any adult group room you host, or a Room Pro room you own. You will need to be signed in to an adult account, which is how Lumi knows who paid.
- Tap Promote in the room's header, pick how long and when, and see the price before you pay.
- Pay by card or coin. Bitcoin, Litecoin, and Vertcoin are accepted alongside cards. Your slot is held for 45 minutes while a coin payment confirms.
- It appears on the front page at the start you chose, and comes off again when the time is up. Nobody in the room notices the ending: the room is simply an ordinary room again.
The rules
- Adult rooms only. Teen rooms cannot be promoted, and are never listed or counted publicly, which is a rule the front page has kept since before promotions existed and is not for sale.
- The rooms Lumi itself keeps open (the quiet room, the language rooms, the night owls) are already on the page and cannot be bought.
- Your room's name is what the page shows, and the usual rules for names apply: nothing pretending to be Lumi staff, nothing that would not be allowed in the room itself.
- Lumi can end a promotion that breaks the rules, without a refund. Anything else about a payment is sorted out by a person, through Support inside the app.
- Every safety rule inside the room is unchanged. A promoted room is moderated exactly like any other, and a promotion is never a reason for anyone to be treated differently.
Room Pro and promotion
They do different jobs, and they stack. Room Pro keeps a room open for good, makes it larger, and gives it a vanity code and theming. A promotion puts a room on the front page for a time. A Pro room can be promoted, and while it is, it is listed like any other promoted room and keeps everything Pro gave it.
What this is not
It is not an advert. Lumi carries no advertising and no trackers, and a promoted room is a room on Lumi, run by a person, under the same rules as every other. It is the front page saying "this room is here", one row at a time, and saying who paid for the row.
